About This Place

Nestled in the heart of Los Angeles’ vibrant Boyle Heights neighborhood, Homegirl Café is not just a dining destination—it’s a heartfelt celebration of community, culture, and incredible flavors. This beloved café expertly blends Mexican-inspired cuisine with a warm, inviting atmosphere that makes every meal feel like a special occasion.

At Homegirl Café, the menu is a delicious tapestry of traditional and creative dishes, each crafted with fresh, high-quality ingredients that burst with authentic, bold flavors. Start your day with a savory Omelette with Seasonal Vegetables or indulge in the richly satisfying Sunrise Sandwich—a harmonious blend of eggs, bacon, avocado, and smoky chipotle mayonnaise nestled in ciabatta bread. For lunch or brunch, the Choice of 3 Tacos or the unique Salmon Tacos on Grilled Cactus Leaf offers an explosion of vibrant tastes and textures that are as delightful to the palate as they are to the eye.

The café’s Chilaquiles Verdes, draped in green salsa and topped with black beans, cotija cheese, and pickled red onion, is a standout that has diners returning time and again for that perfect blend of crisp tortilla chips and rich, savory sauce. Those craving something lighter will appreciate the fresh and crunchy Mighty Cucumber Salad, a refreshing medley accented by serrano vinaigrette and crisp asparagus.

Beyond the food, Homegirl Café’s dining atmosphere resonates deeply with purpose and positivity. The space is sleek yet cozy, designed thoughtfully to foster connection and comfort. Guests often comment on the genuine warmth of the staff—from attentive servers like Stephanie, who go above and beyond with friendly greetings and detailed attention, to the aura of encouragement and hope that the entire team radiates.

Celebrations here become memorable moments, as one customer, Patty Salgado, shared how the staff serenaded her daughter with a joyful rendition of “Happy Birthday” and delighted her with a homemade chocolate mini cake. This spirit of care extends even to their delightful gift shop, stocked with specialty items all crafted by café staff, where purchases help sustain the café’s empowering mission.

Don’t miss the café’s unique drinks, such as the rich and creamy Horchata & Mazapán iced coffee or the aromatic Cafe de Olla, each sip inviting you into a soothing world of traditional Mexican flavors complemented by a modern twist. And for those seeking a sweet finish, the freshly baked pastries—like the flaky, buttery cheese Danish—offer a perfect indulgence made with love on-site.

Whether you’re stopping by for a nourishing breakfast, a relaxed brunch, or a satisfying lunch, Homegirl Café delivers an experience that feeds the soul as much as the appetite. It’s a place where food does more than taste incredible—it tells a story of resilience, community, and hope. For visitors and locals alike, this café is an inspiring reminder of the power of good food made with heart.

Server at our table was great! Very detailed. She rounded up the staff to come sing Happy Birthday to my daughter & brought her a yummy chocolate mini cake! They have an awesome gift shop with specialty items all made by their staff. Proceeds of sales go back to help run the Café. Its truly inspiring being there. I picked up ground coffee made w/orange peels, cinnamon, vanilla flavors. I highly recommend!

From the friendly staff, to the food and service! Everyone that helped and greeted us was amazing! Thank you to our server Stephanie and the gentleman who got us our pastries. We also got the Horchata & Mazapán iced coffee, and the cafe de olla it was so delicious.

Love what they’re doing here. Service and food alone were worth it. First time getting to try the cafe and I would absolutely come back. Went for brunch on a weekday and parking was full. Street parking is available though.

Been wanting to come here for awhile now, so finally got the opportunity, and it was NO disappointment. The service and staff were welcoming and professional. The food was on point. Nice clean establishment. They’ve done a really great job with the design layout for seating. Nothing but good vibes. I’m happy to see this cafe, and the results of positive support for people who have such great potential and talents. The quality of food, portions , and cost all in balance. Support for Homegirl cafe and homeboy industries should be everyone’s priority.. Thanks for a great experience-

I had such a great experience at Homegirl Café! The chilaquiles were full of flavor. Carnitas were very delicious. The breakfast burrito was also absolutely delicious. My waitress was so sweet; she even took me to see where all the pastries are made! I tried the cheese Danish, and it was amazing too. Everything tasted fresh and homemade. Definitely recommend this spot for a delicious breakfast and great service!

First time here, parking is tight. Paid lots and street parking are what I saw, possibly more around back. Lots of people outside as there are many offices attached. Very clean over here, just outside of down town. Small menu but good and fresh! Fair prices. Seating available inside, also has an actual restaurant as well. Friend staff. Would recommend and would return, especially since it’s for a good cause. Keep it up!

This restaurant and bakery serves delicious food and helps folks leave the gang lifestyle with the love of Father Boyle. I would always buy baked goods here to bring to my clients because they were not only delicious, but it gave me the opportunity to promote a good cause that was not necessarily known in Downtown L.A. The food in the diner is delicious and not your average menu. Loved the potato tacos! I've brought clients here for lunch and it was highly regarded by all. I've attended events where Father Boyle speaks and was deeply moved by his mission. Living in Lincoln Heights at the time, I understand the gang lifestyle and was so impressed how this restaurant and bakery was able to lift up the youth that were in that trap and give them hope for a brighter future.

First time diner, long time fan of Father G and his work with Homeboy and Homegirl. The food was outstanding! Chilaquiles that keeps crunchy til the last bite! Excellent tacos! And as my grandmother said about the chile rellano grilled cheese, “that is the best sandwich I’ve eaten in my life!”
